Cardiac Rhythm Management - AMETEK EMC

Cardiac Rhythm Management

How does Cardiac Rhythm Management work?

Cardiac rhythm management (CRM) means artificially controlling and monitoring the heartbeat. This is usually done through small battery-powered devices that are implanted into the human body and connected to the heart. The two most common devices that manage the heart rhythm are pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators (ICD).

A pacemaker helps the heart maintain a regular beat through continuous, low-energy electric shocks whereas a cardioverter defibrillator detects irregular heart rhythms or pauses which triggers and electric shock to reset or restart the heart to a normal rhythm.

AMETEK Engineered Medical Components (EMC) has been designing and developing reliable components for Cardiac Rhythm Management devices for more than 40 years.

Components for Cardiac Rhythm Management Devices

The range of compact, accurate, and advanced components and assemblies required for CRM devices include:
  • Recharge antennas for pacemakers and ICDs
  • Programming cables
  • Implanted lead conductors
  • Ablated lead body tubing
  • Welded Titanium shells
  • Welded MP35N electrical assemblies
